Finding my own ‘Truth’

There is a big movement toward ‘following your own truth’ at the moment.

It’s abundant even in Christian circles.

As Christians our truth is Jesus. The Word of God revealed in The Scriptures.

The Truth is upheld by the church. This is our faith.

This is the narrow path that leads to life.

This is the pillar of cloud by day and fire by night.

When I was 16 I followed ‘my truth.’ I had great fidelity to it and it lead me to addiction and destitution. This place was very far from  the real truth.

The thing is. We are fickle and easily moved by winds of change. Marketeers know this and capitalise on it.

Our ‘truth’ can change. It is dependant on emotions, circumstances, experiences, hunches, trends, and all manner of other transitory things. Our ‘truth’ is based on shifting sands.

The only truth that saves is the truth of Jesus.

2 Timothy 4:3 ESV

For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions

Ephesians 4:14

So that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.

Romans 16:17

I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them.

1 John 4:1

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.
