Simplicity - Carthusian Spirituality series

‘ in simplicitate cordis quartzite illum - Seek Him with simplicity of heart.’ ( Wisdom 1.1)

The more innocent and simple we are, the more is our gaze directed upon Him and so much the nearer we come to Him; while on the contrary, the more complicated we are, the more we distance ourselves from Him.

Our prayer then should be very simple, as simple as possible. We should awaken with the whole soul acts of faith, hope and love. There is no better, more august, surer, and more commendable way of praying.
