Some thoughts on how to read the Bible and meditate on the Bible by Father Lazarus El Anthony

 For your enjoyment of the /bible, read the stories, any of the stories and take from them new meanings. Apply them to your life. Take them as metaphors. You don't have to see a town as a town and a man as a man and a war as a war. You can see them as symbols for things inside you. I think the richness of the Bible is not a literal prison. It's not a straitjacket in which you put on, lace up and can't move. The Bible is a sea which you can go for a swim in. So I believe we should live by the Bible but we should live by its spirit and not by its letter; by the richness of its possibilities and not the record of its past. - Father Lazarus El Anthony
