Simplicity

At that time Jesus answered and said, “I thank Thee, O Father, Lord of Heaven and earth, because Thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. - Matthew 11:25

The enemy likes to keep us focused on church politics or the fallibility of others.

Jesus simply says repent and believe.

Be humble and simple as a child and trust in the mercy of our Heavenly Father.

Jesus died to SAVE us.

I have always loved what Brother Lawrence says about making peace with his own scruples . ( paraphrasing ) ... That he accepted he would only fail without Gods Grace but that he was giving his life to God as well as he could so he simply rested in that knowledge and surrendered his sanctification to God.

In relation to clarity ( which so often seems close to simplicity ) is the dialogue between Jesus and the scribe in (Mk 12: 28) on the first and greatest commandment.

Jewish people pray the Shema daily.

If we spent our lives trying to pray and live the first and greatest commandments ( on which the law and prophets hang) it would perhaps  be enough.

Hear, O Israel!

The Lord our God is Lord alone!

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,

with all your soul, with all your mind,

    and with all your strength.

The second is this:

You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

There is no other commandment greater than these.”
