All Hallows Eve

Today is All Hallows Eve, the Vigil of All Saints Day. Hallows means to ‘make holy’.

This day is beautiful because it celebrates the saints in heaven and on earth that haven’t been officially beatified, recognised or known.

A Saint is someone who does God’s will in everything and doesn’t count the cost.

A Saint is someone whose life is a reflection of the two great commandments to love God with everything and love our neighbour as ourselves.

Yet, where there is great truth and goodness, evil tries to attack. This world is a battle ground between good and evil. There is a war for our souls.

Today isn’t about focusing on darkness and death but on The true light Jesus and those who follow Him into life eternal.

"Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen."
